Ricoh will launch a combi HD DVD/Blu-ray drive for the PC.
Speaking at the International Optoelectronics Exhibition in Tokyo, the brand said the component will also read and write to DVD and CD media. At the heart of the unit is an innovative diffraction device comprising a single pickup lens and an additional objective lens, which allows the unit to read both high def disc formats.
Later in 2007 the brand says it will introduce a combi burner able to read/write to all HD blank media formats.
