Sony has announced a big jump in revenue, up 1.744 billion yen, and an operating profit of 27 billion yen in its 2007 first quarter financial results, thanks to a stellar performance from its BRAVIA LCD TV, digital camera and PC divisions.
Sales within the Sony Electronics division were up 13.5 per cent. However, game revenue plunged 29.1 percent, due to falling sales of PS2 and PSP hardware. The hit movie The DaVinci Code was laregly responsible for a revenue hike of 41.8 percent in its Pictures segment, although Sony Pictures still posted a net loss of 10 million dollars.
