Sony will confirm ‘within hours’ that it will sell its advanced computer chip operation, home of the PlayStation 3 Cell processor, to Toshiba. The deal, expected to be completed in March, is worth 100 billion yen. The PS3 Cell took three years and 200 billion Yen for Sony to develop. But the company says it is unlikely ever to make a return on its investment.
