Reacting quickly to Sony’s announcement that the PlayStation 3 will include DivX support in its next firmware revision, Microsoft has confirmed that its December 4 Dashboard update for the Xbox 360 will also now include DivX and Xvid playback. This will finally enable users with downloaded AVIs to play back their content via the console.
Also included in the system update will be social networking features plus new Game Store and Video Store download areas.
As previously confirmed, a limited number of original Xbox titles will also be available to download, priced at 1,200 Microsoft points each. Titles will include Halo, Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex and Fable.
